Benefits of working with Baka Legal

What makes our approach
a little different

Estate and inheritance law does not have to be cold or hurried. Here is what we do differently at Baka Legal.

Six reasons families choose Baka Legal

These are not marketing claims. They are the things clients actually mention when they tell us what made the difference.

No pressure consultations

Our initial conversation is about understanding your situation. There is no obligation and no hurry.

Fees discussed before we begin

You receive a written cost estimate before any chargeable work starts. Published starting rates are listed on our Solutions page.

Both civil and faraah pathways

We work with estates governed by civil law and those following faraah distribution — with equal attention to each.

Plain-language explanations

We translate legal documents and procedures into everyday language, checking that each step is understood before proceeding.

Melaka-based and locally familiar

We know the local courts, local community, and the particular circumstances families in Melaka face with estates.

Strict confidentiality

Family matters stay within the firm. We do not share your information, and all advice is protected by professional privilege.

Over a decade in estate law in Melaka

Our principal, Encik Farid bin Zulkifli, has focused on inheritance and estate administration for more than twelve years. That focus means we are not generalists who occasionally see an estate matter — it is the work we do day to day, and the depth of knowledge shows.

We are familiar with the probate process at the Melaka courts, the procedures involved in letters of administration, and the intersection of civil and Islamic estate law that many Malaysian families navigate.

A named person. Consistent updates. No chasing.

One of the most common concerns people raise about legal matters is simply not knowing what is happening. At Baka Legal, every client has a named contact and receives updates at each step of the process. You should not have to call us to find out where things stand.

We are also available for in-person consultations, which many families prefer when dealing with sensitive estate matters. Saturday morning slots are available for those who work during the week.

Published starting rates. Written estimates before we begin.

We list our starting fees on this website so families can get a sense of the cost before they even contact us. Will drafting starts from RM 195; family estate guidance from RM 405; estate administration from RM 620.

Before any chargeable work begins, we provide a written cost estimate. We will not proceed until you are comfortable with what is involved. There are no unexpected additions at the end.

  • Starting rates published openly
  • Written estimate before work commences
  • No hidden charges or surprise additions
  • Initial consultation to discuss your situation at no charge
  • Fees in line with Malaysian Bar schedules where applicable

Things we do that most practices do not

The "Keeping It Fair" discussion

For family estate matters, we hold an early session that explains how estates are typically divided — under civil law or faraah — before any formal steps are taken. Families leave better informed and less anxious.

Saturday morning appointments

We know that many clients work during weekdays. Our Saturday slots (until 12:30 pm) make it easier to arrange consultations without taking time off work.

No work starts without written agreement

We do not begin any chargeable matter without a written scope and fee agreement in place. This protects both sides and means there are no disputes about what was agreed.

Family meeting support

For estate division matters involving multiple beneficiaries, we are able to facilitate family discussions at our office — a neutral, calm setting when tension might otherwise arise.
